Ethics & Identity

Passage: Matthew 19:3-6

Big Idea: Our ethics and identity come from God, not ourselves.

Genesis 1:27 (ESV)

27 So God created man in his own image,
    in the image of God he created him;
    male and female he created them.

Genesis 2:24 (ESV)

24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Matthew 19:3-6 (ESV)

And Pharisees came up to him and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful to divorce one's wife for any cause?” He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”

Series Information

Christians are known for what we're against, particularly when it comes to grace and truth where we can be for and with those who differ, not against and above them.
