Outreach: Christmas In September

It's that time of year again! Christmas in September is here, and we're getting ready for one of our favorite outreach opportunities - Operation Christmas Child!
Throughout the month of September, we'll be collecting donated items that will be used to fill shoeboxes for children in need around the world. We collect everything now so that in November, we have a Packing Party where our church family and volunteers come together to organize all the donations and fill the shoeboxes. It’s such a fun and meaningful experience for the whole family!
HOW YOU CAN HELP
1. Take a tag from the Christmas tree in the lobby. Each tag lists items needed for the shoeboxes. Simply purchase the items on your tag and bring them back to church throughout September.
2. Prefer to donate instead? You can give cash or a check and designate it “CHRISTMAS IN SEPTEMBER.” These donations will be used to purchase items for the shoeboxes on your behalf.
3. Help cover shipping costs. Each shoebox costs $10 to ship to a child around the world. To help with shipping, drop off cash or a check at the Connect Counter in the lobby and label your donation “OCC SHIPPING.”
Last year, we packed an incredible 889 shoeboxes! Our goal is to surpass that number this year and reach even more children with the gift of God's love and hope. Let’s see how many shoeboxes we can pack together this year!
